Dungeness Photography Workshop
Dungeness in Kent is a stark, otherworldly headland where a shingle desert meets the sea. The shingle is dotted with weather-beaten fishing huts, rusting boats, decaying timber and other artefacts. And overlooking it all are two decommissioned nuclear power stations. It's a place of eerie beauty and quiet intensity — bleak, poetic, and strangely magnetic: a wild, spectacular location to make extraordinary photography.
Our workshop takes us onto the shingle where we will experiment with technique and storytelling, and I can show you some of the most interesting places. Suitable for all levels.
Please call for availability as James runs this workshop on demand.
Cost is £150 per person per day. Minimum three people, one day.
Price includes all tuition, the workshop PDF and post-shoots review.

About the Workshops
The Focus
The focus of the workshop is to develop and enhance your photography skillset. Spending time in each location allows us to really explore and develop individual imagery and short projects. I am much more than just a guide!
The Tutorials
Tutorials throughout the workshop will teach either a practical technique, or an approach to the subject matter at hand. All supported by imagery from ambitious and successful contemporary and past photographers.
The Shoots
Shooting is generally at dawn and dusk for the best light. Daytime is to recce our locations, tutorials, and photo reviews! At locations, I will be at hand to discuss approaches to subject matter as well as provide technical assistance.
Your Goals
Email James directly to discuss how this experience can help develop your creative goals. Everyone gets personal attention throughout each workshop to maximise your photographic growth.
Orientation
Dungeness is best visited by car and is around an hour's drive from the M25.
The workshops normally start mid morning at Dungeness for a recce, followed by lunch and a personalised tutorial, which can cover anything from "the basics" to more advanced approached to subject matter. There is then a dusk shoot at a time depending on the season.
For those who want to do a dawn shoot the next day there is good pub accommodation in a nearby village.
